Printing a check by a bank needs to undergo lots of special skills. The MICR fonts used in that are one among them. The needed equipments to print a check are laser printer, a special magnetic toner, check paper, and the special MICR fonts. A bank need to print the bottom sequence of numbers on a check in a special font called MICR font using a magnetic toner. This font consists of numbers from 0 through 9 and even four special characters namely: On-Us, Transit, Amount and dash.
The next issue is using a MICR toner. Why is the need of a MICR toner instead of a regular toner; because generally, banks, clearing houses and other financial institutions read the checks in two ways, namely; optically and magnetically. Thus using a MICR toner it makes it much difficult to photocopy a check and moreover much easier to spot a fraudulent copy if at all one is been created. The usage of MICR cartridge is used in laser printers as MICR fonts can be read and printed only by using the MICR cartridges. These toner cartridges are manufactured under various stringent and strict conditions and quality control measures and thus a high quality product is been produced finally.
